Chef Bob Hurley, owner of
Hurley's Restaurant & Bar, is a native of San Francisco. He took two years to jump at the chance to hitchhike through Europe, Africa, and Asia. During this wild ride, he would get temporary gigs at multi-starred hotels and have the rare opportunity to learn how food was prepared and enjoyed on a local level.
Prior to his adventures, he was not new to the culinary world. He had already honed his career under Chef Masa Kobayashi of
Auberge du Soleil and Masa’s, and Jeremiah Tower at Stars. Upon his return to California’s wine country, he worked at
Domaine Chandon under
Philippe Jeanty. All of this hard worked prepped him to open
Napa Valley Grille in 1992. Hurley and the Napa Valley Grille earned critical acclaim from
Zagat’s,
Cooking Light, which named him one of five “
Shining Star Chefs for the New Millennium”,
Wine Spectator and
Nation’s Restaurant News.
Now, with Hurley’s in the heart of Yountville, Bob Hurley is proud to promote sustainability by using local growers and showcasing the bounties of the seasons. The menu flirts with the flavors of the Mediterranean while maintaining a California flair. A favorite for locals and tourists alike, Hurley’s Dining Room and outdoor patio are a lovely way to spend some time relaxing and being spoiled by a Chef with tremendous talent and skill.
Not only is Hurley focused in the kitchen, he takes the time to give back to the community. He is an avid proponent of local charities, including the
Napa Valley Wine Auction,
Copia: American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts, the Napa Valley Academy Awards Benefit,
Hands Across the Valley, the
River School, the Waldorf School and the
Napa Valley Mustard Festival. In 1999, Chef Hurley joined the late Chef Jean Louis Palladin in preparing dinner for the
Staglin Family Vineyard Music Festival for Mental Health, which raised over a million dollars for mental health beneficiaries. Chef Hurley lives in Yountville with his wife Cynthia, his two children and their dog Sammy.
